252Typically called children's church, 252 is our 4 year old through 4th grade kid's experience on Sunday mornings. This experience teaches kids to model the characteristics Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52 "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man."From that we teach kids through story and activity three basic truths.-I need to make the WISE choice.-I can TRUST God no matter what.-I should treat OTHERS the way I want to be treated.

COS |visionAs God works in us and through us our hope is to be:A Place of Worship-Where people who are hurting, confused, broken, discouraged, depressed and frustrated can find love, acceptance, forgiveness, guidance, encouragement and support for their life.-Where people can relax and be restored in an atmosphere that is casual, comfortable and friendly.-Where people can discover a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ and the purposes He has created them for.-Where people can hear a Biblical message that addresses issues we all face today.A Loving Fellowship-Where people can develop strong lasting friendships.-Where people can get involved in small groups, finding encouragement and support.-Where people can develop relationships that motivate, inspire, hold each other accountable and move each other closer to God.-Where families and marriages will find strength and support.A Resource for Spiritual Growth-Where people can grow to spiritual maturity in Christ through Bible studies, small groups, seminars and retreats.-Where people will be equipped for significant ministry.-Where our children and young people can discover life changing principals that will ground their life and help them stand firm in Christ. A Meaningful Ministry-Where people will discover how God can use them to serve others in the unique way He has created them.-Where people are developing the heart of a servant and the mind of a steward, learning how to manage all the resources God has given them.-With facilities that provide opportunity to meet the social, physical and spiritual needs of the community.A People of Impact-Where people learn to share the love of Jesus Christ in such a contagious way that impacts homes, schools, our community and the world.-Where people learn to invest in building relationships with the lost and unchurched in order to help them move closer to faith in God.That is instrumental in sending people out to hurting places in our community and the world for long term and short term missionary projects. That would be instrumental in starting other churches that reach the unchurched and the lost for the Kingdom.
COS |beliefs1.About the Bible: It is God's authoritative revelation of spiritual truth. We believe that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is relevant for our everyday life.2. About God: We believe in one true and living God revealed in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.3. About Jesus: We believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was physically resurrected, ascended to heaven and will return to earth.4. About people: We believe every person is created in the image of God and is important to Him. We also believe that every person has sinned and fallen short of God's expectations. Every person must be born again through Jesus Christ to enter heaven.5. About salvation: We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace. However, we are not saved simply by believing God exists. Many people claim to believe in some form of God.•We are not saved if our good deeds outnumber our bad deeds•We are not saved because we were brought up in a religious family.•We are not saved by participating in religious activities, like going to church, prayer or just because we were baptized.•We are saved by grace through faith, when we trust Jesus Christ and His work on the cross as sufficient for our sin.6. About baptism: We believe that baptism is the response to the command of Christ. It is the first step a person should take after trusting in Christ for salvation.7. About communion: We believe and practice "open communion" where everyone is encouraged to participate as the Spirit leads.. You do not need to be a member.8. About the church: We believe that the church is a community of faith that exists to work in partnership with God to accomplish His purposes on earth. The church exists to:•Worship and love God•Build up one another•Grow in the Word and relationship to Jesus Christ•Serve others•Reach out and impact the world around us9. About marriage and family: We believe that marriages are one of the key institutions created by God to be environments for spiritual growth. Strong marriages and families are the strength and building blocks of a strong healthy church. We must invest in the Biblical institution of marriage and family to build a strong church and society.10. About our youth and children: We believe that God wants to impact our youth and children. He wants us to use them in the church as much as He does the adults. Our ministry to young people must always be a priority in our church, and we must work hard with parents to create a spiritually nurturing environment

COS | historyHistoryChurch of the Shepherd began on February 2, 1997 in a borrowed community room in Grove. Over the course of time, the church has moved to several locations, until the present facility was dedicated on September 21, 2003. In September of 2009 we added on to the existing facility and converted the original part into a children's wing. Since the opening of the new Worship Center, the church has begun to grow with new families from the Grand Lake area. AffiliationChurch of the Shepherd is affiliated with the Evangelical Methodist Church. Don't let any of those words scare you, they simply mean that this denomination is dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ around the world. We are connected with other like minded churches while remaining congregational in our local leadership. That means we set our own programs, our own budget and call our own pastor. (To find out more, you are welcome to attend the next "Next Step”)While we are affiliated with a denomination, at Church of the Shepherd we strive to create a community church atmosphere where everyone, no matter what their background, would feel at home and welcome. Church of the Shepherd is made up of people from all backgrounds and denominations. We are dedicated to providing a place where people from all walks of life can come and discover a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ and develop as His dedicated followers.
COS | ministryOur MissionAt Church of the Shepherd our desire is to help you Discover a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ and develop as His follower. We believe a follower of Christ is one who lives according to the purposes God has created us for, one who:•Loves God with all their heart, mind and soul and will demonstrate that in their daily routine and in weekly services.•Loves others by connecting with God’s people and developing Christ honoring relationships at home, school, work and in the community.•Grows in relationship to Jesus through the study and application of God’s Word.•Serves and contributes to God’s work by using time, abilities, gifts and finances in a significant ministry.•Reaches out and impacts God’s world. These 5 purposes become the heartbeat of everything we strive to do. They are the emphasis of our ministry, the heart of our mission and the hope we have for every person. Our prayer is that you would discover all that God has for you and live in the purposes He has created you for.Our MinistryOur mission is shaped by 4 ministry passions . . .Worship: We are passionate about providing a place where people in our generation can connect with God and discover a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. We are working hard to create an environment where people who are seeking can find answers, people who love God can grow and people who are hurting can find healing. We are working to provide an atmosphere that is casual and comfortable, meaningful and relevant, lifting and encouraging, so that when you leave you might be challenged, changed, RELAXED AND RESTORED.Youth and Children: We are passionate about our kids. Our desire is to raise up the next generation of followers of Jesus Christ. Our youth program is very important and we are working hard to provide an atmosphere on Wednesday nights where youth can have fun, enjoy friends and food, and at the same time develop as a follower of Christ. That’s why we have chosen to use a discipleship program geared to be principle centered and purpose driven. We work to teach our kids important Biblical principals that prepare them for the next level. Discipleship: We are passionate about developing followers of Christ. We want to provide the atmosphere and the resources to help people come to faith in Christ and develop as His follower. We are working to provide teaching that is Biblical and training that prepares believers to serve Christ in a significant and meaningful way. The ministry belongs to every believer and every believer needs to be prepared for a life of serving the Kingdom of God. Small Groups: We are passionate about getting connected together in groups that will help people minister to each other, meet needs, grow and reach out to the community around us. Our small groups, known as Life Groups, are a core part of our ministry and we encourage everyone to get connected in a Life Group.
