Baptism at COS

Here at COS we place a high value on Baptism.

We believe that baptism is the response to the command of Christ. It is the first step a person should take after trusting in Christ for salvation. It is an outward symbol of an inward work. It shows our repentance from sin, death to our old self, and rising again with Christ in a New Life.
Not only that, but we also see baptism as a “watermark”. It marks in our minds and hearts, along with our church and community that we now belong to a different kingdom, a different family. That would be the Kingdom of Heaven and the Family of God. We are saying that we are now part of something bigger and better than this world.
Romans 6:1-6; Acts 2:28

Colossians 2:12-13

For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.

Before Baptism

Before someone is baptized we expect someone should
- Understand sin, repentance and the Gospel of Jesus
- Be able to communicate their salvation experience, share their testimony

*At COS, in order for a child to be baptized there must be a conversation between child, parent/guardian and a pastor or elder.
