COS Info
Be sure to download the COS App and sign up for the weekly email! These are great tools for keeping up with what’s going on around COS, submitting prayer requests, or taking notes on Sunday morning. If there is a weather-related closing, we will send a push notification to the app and post it to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The COS App can be downloaded for your Apple or Android device.
Project 7
Round FOUR, the final round, of the Project 7 Silent Auction will be live on Facebook beginning November 30th, and bidding will end at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 3rd. Don’t forget to select “all comments” under the item you’re bidding on to ensure you are the highest bidder. You can check out the items up for bid in the lobby. Please remember you are bidding to make a difference, not save a buck!
Our 2024 goal is to raise $31,000 by December 31st, 2023. As of today, $6,347 has been donated. To support this ministry, please write “Project 7” in the memo line of your check or, if giving online, choose the fund “Project 7”.
End Year Giving
Thank you for your faithfulness in support of the ministries of COS. As we draw near the end of 2023, here are some reminders for tax regulations on charitable donations. As a non-profit, religious organization, your contributions are tax-deductible (please see your tax advisor for any limits on deductions). However, according to IRS Publication 526, "contributions to individuals who are needy or worthy cannot be deducted even if you make them to a qualified organization for the benefit of a specific person. But you can deduct a contribution to a qualified organization that helps needy or worthy individuals if you don't indicate that your contribution is for a specific person." What does that mean? When you donate to COS, you trust the ministry teams to decide how gifts are stewarded. If you wish to help someone in need, giving directly to that person without expecting a tax donation letter is best. If you have any questions regarding this IRS Tax rule, please contact Jenny at 918-787-4365.
To be deductible on your 2023 tax return, your contribution check must be written, dated, and postmarked on or before December 31, 2023. We cannot make exceptions to this regulation. We will hold our books open for the first week of January 2024 so we may issue a 2023 contribution statement for donations written, dated, and postmarked in 2023. Again, thank you for your faithfulness to the ministry of Jesus through COS.

Petra's Closet Christmas Angel Tree
Pick an angel to shop for and return the unwrapped items to COS no later than December 18th. If you would like, you can place all the items in a giant Christmas bag, but please do not wrap them. Be sure to attach your angel tag to the gift bag so Jenean will know to whom the gifts belong.
There have been questions about parents requesting gift cards and the children asking for gaming systems, so Jenny contacted Jenean Perryman with your concerns. Here is her response and a different perspective to think about: A Grove school counselor personally recommended each Angel, so the need has been vetted. Parents requesting a gift card would like to shop for their children personally. This ensures the child's style and preference are met. As for the gaming systems, think back to the "IT" toy of your childhood. When asked what they wanted, these children responded honestly. They may not need the gaming system, but they hear their friends talking about it, so naturally, they would love to have one, too. Jesus reminds us to give with a joyful heart, so please give how you feel led.
If you have any questions about the Angel Tree or Petra's Closet, please get in touch with Jenean Perryman at 918-801-5687.

Tithes & Offerings
You give to the church, but where does it all go? Here is how your tithes and offerings are used at COS: Weekly tithes and unmarked offerings are deposited in the General Fund Account to be used towards operational expenses and other church-sponsored ministry areas. If you would like to contribute above your tithe, COS offers the following giving opportunities.
If you have any questions please contact Jenny at 918-787-4365 or office@grovecos.com.

Here is how your tithes and offerings are used at COS: Weekly tithes and unmarked offerings are deposited in the General Fund Account to be used towards operational expenses and other church-sponsored ministry areas. If you would like to contribute above your tithe, COS offers the following giving opportunities.
- Places & Spaces (Building Fund) - these funds are used for major improvements to the church building or building debt reduction as needed.
- Benevolence Fund – Our primary focus is people in our church and those living in the cities of Grove and Jay who are struggling to pay their utility bills and have received a cut-off notice. An application process is used, and a committee follows a set of guidelines to determine the amount of assistance to be awarded. It is our desire to be a “hand-up” ministry and work with willing applicants to teach them how to budget their resources so they can thrive instead of just trying to survive.
- Project 7 - At COS we want to be a part of what Jesus desires for his church. To do this, we partner with agencies to provide love and support for the poor and underprivileged in our community and around the globe. We want to be intentional about meeting the 7 areas of need as outlined in Matthew 25:34-40 and James 1:27
- Other – On occasion, there may be opportunities to give to a specific area such as our youth department, a local ministry fundraiser, or a community project.
If you have any questions please contact Jenny at 918-787-4365 or office@grovecos.com.
