Project 7

Who We Are

At COS we want to be a part of what Jesus desires for his church. To do this, we partner with agencies to provide love and support for the poor and underprivileged in our community and around the globe. We want to be intentional about meeting the 7 areas of need as outlined in Matthew 25:34-40 and James 1:27.

Our goal is to build and support relationships that inspire change.  We build relationships by volunteering and financially supporting our local partners and help spread the Good News world-wide by giving financially to our global partners.  Visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/COSProject7

Heartstring Story

Pastor Mike

"I remember the story of a lady holding a dustpan she had just picked up at the Big Give COS helps sponsor.  As tears filled her eyes, she said how desperately she needed a dustpan.  A dustpan!!!  How many of those do we have in our home?  Who knew a dustpan would be an answer to a prayer?  But that’s what happens when the church chooses to extend a hand of love to those in need.  A dustpan becomes an answer to prayer.  Imagine what your time and giving would accomplish and how many prayers would be answered if we could do more and give more.

Jesus said, “When you did it to one of the least of these, you were doing it to me.”

Powerful when you think about it; The moment you extend your hand in love to one of the least of these, we are ministering to Jesus.  Our heart as a church is to serve Jesus by partnering with organizations who are doing a fantastic job ministering to the least of these, both locally and globally.

It is our heart as a church to get outside the 4-walls and share the love of Jesus in very tangible ways.  We are going to be a church that takes the love of Jesus outside the 4-walls of COS.  Our goal is simple, all we want to do is raise awareness about organizations where you can volunteer and raise funds to help those who are under-sourced.  I hope you will take the time to read about our ministry partners and pray about where God would have you get involved."

Evangelical Church Missions

The Evangelical Methodist Church Missions project helps build churches, provide water wells for clean drinking water and provide Bibles for new Christians in Myanmar.

Bibles for Myanmar: God has blessed the efforts of the Myanmar Christians with over 5,000 salvations since 2012. Their project, Bibles for Myanmar" provides Bibles to first generation Believers to read and study. For $6.00, the EMC Myanmar can order a Burmese Bible translated by Adnorium Johnson.

Every year the EMC will be building water wells in Myanmar and on the continent of Africa in the countries of Congo, Kenya, Liberia, and other countries where the EMC has congregations. The EMC will provide as many wells as the USA local churches provide the funds. They partner with One Mission Society and Mercy, INC. for drilling the wells. $300-$500 will drill a shallow well and $770 will provide a deep water well.

What can you do? Provide financial assistance through COS's Project 7 ministry to help purchase Bibles or help with the cost for water wells to provide clean drinking water.

Operation Christmas Child

The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told his hearers, "Go and do likewise." For over 40 years, Samaritan's Purse has done their utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering. They are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News.

Every year COS joins forces with Samaritan's Purse to pack shoeboxes full of toys, hygiene items, shoes and the Gospel Message.

How can you get involved? When the OCC table is on display this fall, grab a shoebox and pack it full of the suggested items, volunteer to man the shoebox table or volunteer to work during the collection week when other churches bring their boxes to COS.

For more information on how you can get involved, please contact Kim Lindahl at kim.lakehouse@gmail.com

Laundry of Love

The Laundry Love Project has been in continuous operation since July 2010. For 11 years, they have been providing a service that financially assists those in need with the high cost of doing laundry. On the first Friday of each month, LLP has served an average of 500 people each year at the Washboard Laundry. Since the beginning of the project, LLP has depended largely on individual contributions.

LLP realizes that clean laundry is not just needed on the first Friday of the month. Dire circumstances can occur at any time. That is why LLP is also available for emergency needs through a voucher system. Local churches may receive up to ten vouchers to be distributed for these emergency services.

Volunteer opportunities: Donate cash or laundry items such as detergent, dryer sheets, bleach, etc.

For more information please contact Pam Sitton at 918-964-9377.
